Edible Wedding Favors That Are Good and Healthy for Everybody

Edible wedding favors have been given out for centuries.  For some time, sugar cubes and fine confection were the choice of aristocrat couples in Europe, but after a while, when the custom had hit the commoners and started to spread, the choice of food had become varied.  Nowadays, there is no restriction as to the sort of treats you can give to your wedding guests.

In this age, lots of people are already discovering, or have already discovered, the benefit of maintaining oneself healthy.  A lot more individuals have become sensitive of what they eat and drink.  And so, if you are going to offer an edible wedding favor to your guests, you might as well also let them realize that you care by getting them something healthy like tea.

First, you need to know that there’s a difference between tea and herbal tea.  Real tea comes from only one species of plant, the Camellia sinensis, while herbal tea can come from other plants and herbs.

Camellia sinensis has three kinds:

·    China – grows on high altitudes and has tiny leaves

·    India (Assam) – grows on lower altitude and has larger leaves

·    Hybrid – has characteristics of both China and India varieties

From these three, you can get four types of tea.  It’s the procedure that makes them differ from one another:

·    Black Tea – the leaves are allowed to wither and go under full oxidation

·    Green Tea – allowed to wither only a little and then the leaves are heated rapidly to stop oxidation

·    Oolong Tea – goes into partial oxidation and its caffeine level sits anywhere between the black tea and green tea

·    White Tea – uses the youngest shoots of the tea plant and are not oxidized

Now, if you decide on herbal teas to give as your wedding favors, then you have hundreds of choices.  Just to name a few:

·    Chamomile tea

·    Rosemary

·    Hibiscus

·    Gingerroot

·    Lemon grass

·    Licorice

·    Mint

·    Sage

·    Ginseng

·    Chrysanthemum

Herbal tea is much valued for its antioxidant properties, along with its exquisite taste and aroma, which your guests would absolutely enjoy.

The packaging of your tea wedding favors would just be as valued as the tea itself.  It would be a good idea for you to include a little background details about this beverage that you are giving out, like its health benefits, where it came from, and how it is prepared.  Your gift will definitely be appreciated.
