Homemade facial scrub, too abrasive?

I was thinking of the mixture of sodium bicarbonate, vitamin E and olive oil flax seed to form a paste and use to exfoliate my face. Could it be too abrasive? I was told that baking soda is bully on his face and know that vitamin E and flax seed is supposed to be good for the skin. I wash my face and tone then by all means, but I thought this would be a cool, all natural exfoliant? Any suggestions or warnings? Thanks
